What we have done

In our three years of operation R99 has undertaken a wide variety of assignments for clients in the public, private, voluntary and community sectors.

ENTEC & Walsall Council		Urban Design training for residents, elected members and officers involved in community engagement around regeneration projects in the borough
Coventry Partnership (LSP)		Initial research, mapping and community consultation for Your Neighbourhood Matters, an NRF and Neighbourhood Element of Stronger Safer Communities funded project managed by Groundwork for Coventry Partnership
Urban Vision North Staffordshire		Learning programme developed for a partnership of five North Staffordshire local authorities. Five half-day events covered the basics of urban design, character, housing quality, the planning system, the public realm and improving local authority practice.
Kettering Borough Council		Learning programme for officers and councillors to improve their impact on built environment quality. Four afternoon and evening events covering urban design basics, urban extensions, town centre renewal, housing quality, public realm, the planning process and ‘big-shed’ distribution parks.
Pendle Borough Council & Design East Lancashire		Training for officers, councillors and residents in urban design. Two Saturday morning events which covered the basics of urban design and remodelling of neighbourhoods were followed by a short evening event for councillors.
Design for Change (CABE)		We designed, developed and delivered this learning programme for leading and influential councillors and senior officers in four areas of England. The programme, which aimed to develop local authorities' capacity to improve the built environment involved over 200 learners and 19 events.

Coventry & Warwickshire CDA		We helped deliver support to social enterprises in the Coventry & Nuneaton Regeneration Zone and edited the Driver's Manual which detailed their innovative DRIVE (Developing Real Initiative for Enterprise) programme. We created www.theresonenearyou.com, an online directory of social enterprise in Coventry & Warwickshire.

Living Spaces		We've been acting as 'Enablers', helping community groups access funding from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister to renovate public spaces.

Civic Trust		We made a major contribution to the Civic Society Pathfinders residential training programme which aimed to make civic societies more inclusive, exciting, influential and effective. We supported Passion for Places, a Civic Trust programme to develop civic societies in Oldham and Walsall. We produced a national manual for BizFizz, an innovative programme to promote enterprise in deprived areas. We provided training in marketing, project management and fundraising on the Norfolk Civic Champions social entrepreneur training course.

Coventry & Warwickshire Learning Consortium		We developed a business plan for this new organisation for the voluntary and community sector and helped them with company formation, recruitment and creating a Workforce Development Strategy. As a result funding of over £0.5m has been raised from the local Learning and Skills Council.

Waterloo Community Regeneration Trust		We undertook a mid-term evaluation for WCRT's community-based SRB Programme and a succession strategy for the Trust following the completion of the programme.

South Bank Employers Group		Evaluating South Bank Employers’ Group’s Mentoring Programme for Social Enterprises and advising on the development of this and future programmes. Carried out an evaluation of the South Bank Employers’ Group’s Local Jobs for Local People programme which offered employment and life skills to disadvantaged people in the London’s Cross River Partnership area.

North Smethwick Housing Development Trust		We developed a Business Plan for the Brasshouse Lane Community Centre under the Trust's management and assisted with negotiations with the Local Authority for a long-term lease for the building.

The Guild Place (Whitefiars Housing Group)		We provided training for a group of residents on Coventry's Pridmore Estate to enable them to take over the management of their Community House.

Todwick Village Plan		We undertook a major survey and consultation with residents in this South Yorkshire Village and drew up a comprehensive village plan.
